Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he began the building of threshing machinery. Later the company gained recognition internationally as the initial maker of steam engines for its agricultural use. By 1912, Case had become established within the construction machinery business. The rapidly started to produce road building equipment such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machine company through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the mid-1990s to become the top manufacturer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
During 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the world's leading brands of agricultural and construction machines.
